How We Approach a Window or Door Project
How Windows & Doors Works
A window or door replacement typically runs like this:
Measure & Estimate
We measure the openings, discuss product options, and provide a free written estimate.
Remove Old Units
Existing windows or doors are removed carefully to protect surrounding trim and finishes where possible.
Check the Opening
We inspect the framing and sheathing around the opening for damage before installing new units.
Install & Flash
New windows or doors are set, shimmed level and plumb, and flashed to keep the opening weathertight.
Trim & Finish
Interior and exterior trim is installed and painted to match the rest of the home.
Final Walkthrough
We check operation and seal quality with you before considering the job complete.
Our Approach to Windows & Doors
A window or door is only as good as the opening it's installed into — we check framing and flashing every time, since a leak at the opening will outlast any warranty on the unit itself.
We set every unit level and plumb before trimming it out, since a slightly out-of-square installation shows up in how doors swing and windows operate for years afterward.
Trim and paint are what make a replacement look intentional rather than patched — we match existing profiles and sheen so the new unit reads as part of the house.
What Affects Cost & Timeline
Every project is different, so we quote after a walkthrough rather than guessing over the phone. Here's what generally moves the price and schedule:
Number of windows or doors being replaced
Whether openings need to be resized or reframed
Condition of the framing and sheathing found during removal
Interior and exterior trim scope
Whether painting is bundled in after installation

“We had a great experience working with AMV Construction Group on our bathroom renovation. They helped transform the space and the quality of the work really shows, especially the tile and finishing details. The team was reliable, easy to work with, and kept us updated throughout the process. We would absolutely work with them again.”

“If I could give Alberto and AMV 100 stars I would! He did my kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room and I can’t say enough good things about him and his employees. Everything was done on time, if not early, and their work is meticulous. If a problem arose, it was solved and fixed before I could even stress about it. Easily the smoothest home improvement process I’ve had, despite it being the largest. Do yourself a favor, and call AMV!”

“We have used AMV for several home improvement projects, including full bath and kitchen remodels. My husband also works in the trades and he is very picky about craftsmanship. Alberto and his team are talented construction experts AND they provide excellent service. If you’re looking for “cheap”, maybe they aren’t your best bet; but if you’re looking for quality work, that lasts, and you don’t have to chase down to get it done, and fair pricing, look no further. Highly recommend!”

“Like several of my neighbors, I used AMV CG to repair and paint the outside of my home last year. They were very responsive, thorough, professional and trustworthy. The cost was fair and they are fully insured. I will continue to use them.”

“AMV Construction completely updated our kitchen for us, put in a large picture window in our dining room and made beautiful custom barn wood shutters for the window to close at night. They also rebuilt the bases on our front porch pillars. They did an excellent job on everything and we definitely would hire them again! :) ”

“I have used AMV construction (Alberto) for many years and always get first-class workmanship and five-star service. AMV has done renovations, painting and other construction work for me. The attached photos show my laundry room full renovation and an awesome barn door in my garage Alberto constructed to hide all my garden equipment. When painting the exterior, Alberto will always find and recommend replacing rotting wood (with PVC which never rots). Many painters I have used in the past simply paint over the rotting boards. Alberto’s team always shows up on time and many of his team have been with him for years. This is an honest, professional, family-run business I would highly recommend. I live in a subdivision of Piper Glen and many of my neighbors also use the AMV Construction team for all our painting or renovation needs.”

“We have used this family owned construction and remodeling company for over six years. They are excellent and never ever any surprises. When we moved to Waxhaw, Alberto and his company remodeled the house extensively- they were right on budget, great work ethics, and wonderful updates to the kitchen, baths, sunroom, and built is an office ! We only use Alberto and his company! We have another project they will begin this month. Yes, I am sold on this family owned construction company, the brothers and their sons plus their employees ! ”
