How Flooring Works
A flooring installation typically runs like this:
Estimate & Material Review
We measure the space, confirm the flooring material, and provide a free written estimate.
Remove Old Flooring
Existing flooring is removed if needed, and the subfloor is inspected for damage or unevenness.
Level the Subfloor
Low spots or damaged sections are corrected so the new flooring sits flat and doesn't flex or gap.
Acclimate the Material
Flooring is allowed to acclimate to the room's temperature and humidity before installation, where the product calls for it.
Install & Trim
Flooring is laid room by room, with transition strips and trim fitted at doorways and edges.
Reinstall Baseboards & Inspect
Baseboards go back on, and we walk the finished floor with you to check for gaps or issues.
Our Approach to Flooring
Subfloor condition matters more than the flooring product itself — an unlevel or damaged subfloor will telegraph through almost any finished floor over time, so we check it before installation starts.
Letting flooring acclimate to the room before it's installed reduces the chance of gapping or buckling later, especially in Charlotte's humidity swings between seasons.
We install flooring in a sequence that respects expansion gaps at walls and transitions, which keeps the floor performing well as temperature and humidity shift through the year.
